Carol's Story
18 months ago, Carol went from being fit and healthy to suffering a full motor neuron stroke which left her in a coma.
When Carol joined the Exercise Referral Scheme she was virtually unable to walk, had impaired speech and loss of her right arm. Exercise Referral Coordinator Matt started to work with Carol, she could just walk with a cane or frame for short distances.
Over the last 18 months, Carol has attended the gym twice a week, had physio therapy and lots of support from her Husband Mick. She is now able to walk unaided for an unlimited time and distance, she uses a specially designed hand grip to lift and pull weights and is slowly regaining the use of her arm.
Carol is continuing her journey to be as fit as she can and continues to build strength and muscle, all of this has been achieved with the support of Matt and the specially trained and dedicated instructors through the Exercise Referral Scheme.
